Homeschool, the New Normal

Homeschool Life magazine

It’s a brand new year. Last year was hard, and by the looks of things, the challenges of 2020 may linger a little longer. A global pandemic affected everyone in some way, but not in the same way. But one thing become a norm in 2020 for parents. More than any other year in history, homeschool life nearly doubled.

Last year, many parents that never considered homeschool, were forced to bring their children home. Families with school age children experienced some type of schooling at home, and not by choice. This created stress for parents and families.

While many communities opened the school doors last fall, the restrictions caused many parents to step back and re-evaluate the choice to send their kids back. However, many communities do not have an option to return to the classroom as of yet. Parents have been put into a position where they are forced to choose between virtual and homeschool.

Homeschool Life in 2021

Virtual school through your local school district is not the same as homeschooling. Virtual school caused un-needed stress for parents. As a result, many pulled their children from virtual learning and took on the flexibility and freedom of homeschool.

When parents discovered the freedom of homeschool, the percentages of homeschoolers doubled. Homeschool life is on the rise and, will remain a popular method of education even beyond the pandemic.

Just a short time ago, homeschool conventions were a place where homeschool families could connect each year. They could touch and feel the books, meet curriculum creators and hear the wisdom of speakers. New homeschool families felt thrown into the trenches. At this time, Homeschool companies felt helpless. In a very short time, homeschool companies were forced to discover new ways to virtually reach homeschool educators.

Whether you are just starting the homeschool journey or not, you will need continuous resources and encouragement.
